What happens when a customer doesn't turn up?

You set the booking's status to No-show in Bookings. That's the only step. From then on a warning badge shows next to their name, and once they have two, their next booking lands as Pending for you to confirm or decline. Nobody is charged by this on its own.

Where it lives

Marking happens in Bookings, the third item in the left menu, using the status dropdown on the booking. The badge then appears in Bookings, on the calendar and in Clients. The wording of your No-show fee and Cancellation window, which Sally quotes to customers, lives under SettingsBooking settingsRules & timing in the Cancellations & fees card.

Mark a no-show

  1. Find the appointment in Bookings or on the calendar

Past bookings that were never marked done show as due; that's where no-shows hide.

  2. Set the status to No-show

Use the status dropdown on the row. There's nothing else to fill in.

You'll see: a small ⚠ badge with a count next to that customer's name on any future booking and in Clients.
  3. Let auto-hold do the rest

Once a customer has two or more no-shows at your business, their next booking arrives as Pending with the note Auto-held: customer has N prior no-shows. Confirm it, ask them to reconfirm, or decline.

What stays in your control

Your dashboard can also show a softer likely no-shows estimate: past appointments that were never marked complete. Treat it as a nudge to keep statuses tidy, not a verdict. The real protection is the mark, badge, hold loop above.

Charging a no-show fee

Honest by designMarking a no-show never takes money. The No-show fee box under Rules & timing is wording: Sally tells customers your policy when they ask, and it shows on your booking page. If you want money actually held against a booking, that's a deposit, which stays with you on a no-show unless you refund it. Confirm to hold is the middle option: no payment, but the slot isn't theirs until they tap.
Plan noteMarking, badges and auto-hold are on every plan. Deposits need Growth or Pro. Compare plans.

Common questions

Can I forgive a no-show?

Yes. Open the past booking and change its status to Completed or Cancelled. The badge count drops straight away, and auto-hold stops applying once they're under two.

Does the customer see the badge?

No. It's private to you and your team. Customers only see a held booking as pending confirmation.

Will a held booking free up the slot if I don't act?

No. A Pending booking keeps the slot until you confirm or decline it, so check the Review nudge at the top of Bookings each morning.
