How do I connect Google Calendar?

One click under Connected apps, approve Google's prompt, done. From then on every booking Sally takes lands in your Google Calendar, and anything already in Google blocks that time so it's never offered as free. It connects the owner's Google account and is available on Starter and above.

Where it lives

Open SettingsAccountConnected apps. Google Calendar is the first row, with a Connect button, or a Connected badge and Disconnect once it's linked. The same pane holds Instagram messages and WhatsApp. Only the owner login can connect apps.

Connect it

  1. Click Connect on the Google Calendar row

A Google sign-in window opens. Use the Google account that holds your work calendar, not a personal one you'd rather keep separate.

  2. Approve Google's access prompt

Google asks you to allow Suddenly Sorted to see and edit events on your calendar. Tick the box and choose Continue. Without that permission the sync can't write bookings or read busy time.

You'll see: the window close and the row change to Connected.
  3. Make a test booking

Book a slot from your own booking page, then open Google Calendar. The event should be there within a minute, named after the service and customer.

What the sync does

  • Bookings appear in GoogleReschedules and cancellations update the event too
  • Google events block availabilityA dentist appointment is treated as busy
  • Busy time onlySally never reads what your events say

One thing to know: moving a booking's event around inside Google does not move the booking in Suddenly Sorted. Reschedule from your Suddenly calendar, or let the customer do it from their manage link, and the change flows through to Google. Only bookings made after you connect are written to Google.

Honest by designThe sync connects one Google account, the owner's. If your staff keep their own Google calendars, their events won't block their availability yet. Use block off time in the Suddenly calendar for that.
Plan noteGoogle Calendar sync is on Starter, Growth and Pro, and unlocked during the 14-day trial. Compare plans.

If the sync stops working

If Google revokes access (a changed password, a security review, or you removing the app in your Google account) your dashboard shows a Google Calendar needs reconnecting banner. Click Reconnect, approve the prompt again, and new bookings start writing to Google straight away. Bookings made while the sync was broken are safe in Suddenly Sorted; they just weren't added to Google. To stop syncing on purpose, click Disconnect on the same row. New bookings then stay in Suddenly Sorted only.

Common questions

Can I choose which Google calendar bookings go into?

Bookings are written to the primary calendar of the account you connected. If you want them somewhere else, create a separate Google account for the business and connect that.

Will my personal events show up to customers?

No. Customers only ever see that a time is unavailable. Event titles and details never leave your Google account.

Do I get two-way sync with Outlook or Apple Calendar?

Not yet. Customers can add their booking to any calendar from their confirmation, but owner sync is Google only for now.

Still stuck on this?

Tell us the Google account you connected and a booking that didn't appear. We'll check the sync log for it.
