How do I set my opening hours, split shifts and holidays?

Set each day's hours under Settings › Booking settings › Rules & timing. Sally only offers times inside them, and you can add a second range on any day to block out lunch.

Where it lives

Opening hours live under SettingsBooking settingsRules & timing. There's also an Opening hours quick card at the top of Settings that jumps straight there. They're the backbone of availability: Sally won't offer a time you're closed, your booking page only shows open times, and the calendar shades the hours you don't work.

Your dashboard · Settings › Booking settings › Rules & timingDrawn from the live UI · sample salon
1: Settings at the bottom of the left menu. 2: one row per day with a switch and its ranges; Thursday shows a split shift. Hours are a sample salon, not yours.

Set your weekly hours

  1. Switch on the days you're open

Flip each day's switch. Days left off are closed: Sally offers nothing and the calendar greys them out.

You'll see: closed days collapse to a single “Closed” line.
  2. Set the times for each open day

Set from and to. Different days can differ: late night Thursday, early close Saturday, whatever you actually run. Use Copy to other days to apply one day's hours across the week.

You'll see: the ranges on each row.
  3. Add a second range for lunch or a split shift

Click the + under a day and enter, say, 9:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 5:00. The gap is closed, so nobody can book your break.

You'll see: two ranges on that row, with the gap between them treated as closed.
  4. Save changes

Availability updates immediately on your booking page, in chat and on the calendar.

You'll see: a saved confirmation, and the new hours shaded on the calendar.

New Zealand public holidays

The calendar labels NZ public holidays in Day, Week and Month views so you're never caught out. They're informational: they don't close you, because plenty of salons trade on a public holiday. Closing for one? Block the day in the calendar, or switch that day off here for the week and back on after.

What it won't do

Honest by designOpening hours are when the business can be booked, not each person's roster. A team member who finishes early or is off for the day is handled in the calendar (block their column, or mark them out sick), not by changing the salon's hours.

Common questions

Sally offered a time we're closed. Why?

Check the day's switch and ranges here first; a day left on with default hours is the usual cause. If the hours are right, the time was probably inside a range but you'd blocked it only in your head or in a Google Calendar that isn't connected.

Can I set different hours for a one-off week, like the week before Christmas?

There's no separate holiday schedule. Change the hours here for that week and change them back after, or keep your usual hours and add blocks in the calendar for the times you're closed.

Do my Google listing hours update when I change these?

No, they're separate. We pulled your hours from Google when you set up, but changes here stay in Suddenly Sorted. Update your Google Business Profile as well so customers see the same hours everywhere.
