How do my services decide what customers can book?

Every service carries a duration and a handful of optional rules. Together they choose which start times are offered, how much breathing room sits after each job, and what the customer is told before they book. Set them once and Sally and your booking page hold the line.

Where it lives

Open SettingsYour businessServices & team. Each service is a row with its name, price and duration on top, and the optional rules underneath: Cleanup, Min notice, Rebook, Deposit, a Popular switch and a Booking note. Your team list sits on the same pane, which is where you say who does which service.

Set up a service

  1. Add the name, price and duration

The price is what Sally quotes when someone asks how much is a colour?. Tick from if it varies. The duration is how long the chair is blocked on your calendar.

You'll see: the service on your booking page as soon as you save.
  2. Add breathing room and notice

Type a Cleanup time in minutes and a Min notice in hours if the service needs them. Both are optional; blank means none.

  3. Add a booking note, then Save changes

A short line shown to the customer as they book, such as prep instructions. Then click Save changes at the bottom.

You'll see: the note on the booking page under that service, and Sally mentioning it when she books it.

What each rule does

  • DurationBlocks the chair; no slot that runs past closing
  • Cleanup (min)Gap after the job; invisible to the customer
  • Min notice (hrs)Hides slots that are too soon
  • Booking noteShown as they book
  • DepositOff, set amount, %, or pay in full
  • Rebook (wks)When a regular is due back
  • PopularA tag on your booking page

Colour services that need a patch test are the classic case: put A patch test is needed at least 48 hours before this appointment in the booking note and set Min notice to 48, and the page won't even offer a time that's too soon. The Deposit dropdown is per service and overrides the default under Booking settings; the Rebook weeks feed Sally's rebooking nudges.

Who does what

Each team member starts as does all services. Turn that off on their row and tick only what they do, and neither Sally nor the booking page will offer them for anything else. When more than one person can do a service, the customer is offered a choice, Anyone's fine first, then names. If only one person does it, they're booked without being asked.

Honest by designRules apply to bookings customers make themselves. When you add a booking by hand you can override the notice and the deposit, so a regular ringing for a same-day slot is never blocked.
Plan noteServices, rules and team assignment are on every plan. Taking a deposit needs Growth or Pro. Compare plans.

Common questions

Why isn't a same-day time showing on my booking page?

Check the service's Min notice first, then your opening hours. A 24-hour notice hides everything before this time tomorrow.

Can two services have different cleanup times?

Yes, cleanup is per service. A stacked cut-then-colour visit uses each service's own gap between the two.

Does changing a duration move existing bookings?

No. Bookings already made keep their original length; only new bookings use the new duration.
